Auto Sales Drop Could Have Bad Impact on Satellite Radio
I have thought before taht putting their eggs all in one basket with the auto's was a mistake. Likewise, counting on retailers to sell the product doesn't work. I find the salesman at Best Buy give very little attention to the Satrad locations. Mostly because they don't know the details themselves. This is a large hole in the current strategy, one that I wish they would address.

      Yahoo Fumbling Away
an observation, yahoo was obviously out of favor before and after the rejection of microsoft but investors had an opportunity to exit, some of us didn't, don't blame yahoo.

also, ADT, "mouthful of nothing", I'd have loved a real explanation of what it was, but instead we got a throw away line as well.

I use yahoo all the time, I'm in no position to judge where they should be, only where I hope they are going and honestly some of this stuff doesn't translate real well for me so my hopes may be misplaced, but I have them

      Leave Sirius Alone!
If the FCC has mandated that Siri XM allow others to manufacture their radios I would think this would free Siri XM from HD deployment, let these other companies be the innovaters in design and functionality... I believe opening the door to other manufacturers of SatRad frees Siri XM from needing to worry about HD

Sirius Retail Sales Questions Left Unanswered
I think more than anything this shows that the OEM channel sells itself and is quite easy to evaluate, but Satrad doesn't have a solid plan for retail yet, but when they do, I think thats when we'll see the big gains in subscriber growth... assuming its more than teh 18 year olds at BBY and CC being the whole plan. Even the Kiosks in the malls are manned by only marginally trained people on the equipment.

Brand Names: Important, But Not Key to Investment Decisions
Second thought, this is why I say why not steal the succesful ideas of your competitors, differentiation can be attained after succesful branding but is not the same thing.

Brand Names: Important, But Not Key to Investment Decisions
It would seem GM should work on improving the brand name in the minds of americans, then they might have some pricing power. The problem is these things take time, especially with large purchases like a car. If GM could sell a "Volt" without someone thinking GM/Chevy but instead Toyota, yes they'd be fine. CC needs to change the experience in their customers minds. An example of that kind of change is what is happening at Six Flags. These things take years even with good management and the resulting improved branding. Bad management and we have GM and CC today.

Taking a Bite from SIRI's Apple Connection Enthusiasm
I continue to appreciate Tylers enlightening us on some of the details that get overlooked. I'd rather have his honesty on the iphone than a blip up and then sinking like rock when someone else comes on and bashes it on the over hype. The good news is we don't necessarily need to view the iphone as the enemy, maybe someday it will be just one more revenue stream that drives the company to the top.

Is the 'Mad Dog' Headed to Sirius XM's Sports Channel?
i was just thinking about cable tv and how they give away the box... but they still own it! if they took this approach with radios wouldn't this impact the bottomline per GAAP, depreciation vs subsidy. Cash Flow is similar, the difference is what the consumers pay (non oem) So my question is how do they recognize the cost of the subsidized radio?

Circuit City: Outlook Is Grimmer Than Ever
one thing I've noticed: in the small towns the service is better in the big cities where they've hired kids who don't see CC as their future, you get no service. I think this where they need to start self evaluating their situation. I'm sure the big wigs are busy at 50,000 feet and are in fact missing the details.

Yahoo!: Do The Right Thing for Your Shareholders with Taobao and AliPay
I'm a little confused, we are talking about value / future value and how yahoo could screw it up and for some reason it is implied that JY will. But if we sit and look at it, isn't this exactly why he didn't want to sell to Microsoft? He knew there was more value to be unlocked with Yahoo, granted it is now up to management to get that word out. This piece was great for doing that, thank you Eric. Please keep us up to speed on how Yahoo does at maximizing these hidden values.

Satellite Radio: Betting on Used Cars
Neal and Tyler are making the same point, for used cars to be measurable Sirius XM needs to come up with a plan to reach these customers and then measure the success. I think this is part of the greater problem with the retail chain. Maybe these Kiosks need to be expanded so people can accomplish something at them. Counting on BBY and CC for new sales just seems silly. The Ipod can stand alone, but ITunes is the killer app, Sirius XM needs something to draw interest, create retail sales and used car signups.... it needs a face.

Can Sprint Convince Customers to Stay?
Sprint needs to keep marketing themselves, their customer service has been great the last year and certainly is better than Verizons, whom i left almost 2 years ago. Subscriber counts mean something, but I'm not sure its a customer service issue.

Shapiro Spins Like Crazy for Six Flags
TY Grebellion, talking about a one sided article of rants because they apparently aren't Disney yet?
The quote from Shapiro that i felt reflected his honesty was, i think we can do this if we don't run out of money first. I'm telling you fixed minimum payments are a killer when they took years to build up. I have my fingers crossed.
