      Apple’s Uncharacteristically Sloppy Execution
AAPL's new "accounting method" is deferring sales and earnings for two years. Analysts simply don't get it: these earnings are real and have to be added to the publicized flow of income and to the estimates. Since the flow of income from the iPhone is growing percentually, the absolute incremenal numbers will be "significant"... Some people covered themselves with AAPL shares on the cheap and we all got rid of some weak hands again.

Apple Plays the Conservative Card Despite Record Quarter
It's amazing, how stubbornly analyst and some journalist try to pull AAPL into the usual and by professionals (like Warren Buffet) heavily criticized quarterly earnings game. Of course, AAPL is giving a conservative guess on the MARKET, after all it utilizes in the first line innovation and leadership. Those analysts did not predict the development of AAPL in the last 5 years, especially since 2003, very well, and most speculation about new products was wrong and way off the needs of the market. Maybe the cautious attitude of AAPL regarding market developments helped them to build up those marketing capabilities, the market learned to know very well. Dutiful number crunching is no replacement for strategic thinking.

SOHU: China Plays With Growth Potential
The earnings surprises look very nice but people focus on them way too mechanically. It's really the potential, which is determined through the market (China and internet) and the competition. The business model of SOHU seems to adapt changes in the market very well, and finally they don't srew up the financials as a result. So it's a big and dinamycally growing market with a healthy and manageable competition and a lot of new evolving opportunities.

Is Apple TV a Viable Replacement?
AAPL is taking the "TV-Business"... very seriously, but I think we will see some more iterations to the Product/Market-solutio... I still cannot figure out, how the business will look like with Apple TV as a stand-alone product.

Sohu's Stock Bounces on Analysts' Defense
SOHU was pointing at the changing nature of its business protfolio and the extraordinary growth at advertising revenue generated by the Olympics. Don't compare this "chinese business model" with GOOG or western internet companys. What they have is pretty good brands, and market proximity.

Apple's Balancing Act: 3G iPhone vs. Jobs' Health - Barron's
It allways surprises me, how shortsighted analysts and journalist value AAPL. Maybe it's healthy for the stock, it gets the weak hands wiped out.

$1.2 Billion in iPhone Apps? Not Likely.
A growing AAPL will produce a very nice retail margin, either in shops or via iTunes digitally. That's the point. Thinking about only digital retailing, well it's not a bad business at all. We can all figure out our expectations as on ongoing matter, reality will beat them for at least a couple of years, until the market matures.

      iPhone As Platform = Cha-Ching!
Well, that's the way innovation goes. Firstmover's pay for being first, later on, competition will do it's job for reducing prices. And let me guess: it won't take very long in this market. For the razor-and-blades approach, this is all about choice, you don't want to have all those apps on your iPhone. At the other hand, it differentiates the product very nicely and makes it "different" for diverging needs.

      Apple Experiments with Sun-Powered Devices
Its not the solar cells AAPL has patented for! Its the way, gadgets integrate solar cells and users can interact with them. Well that might be revolutionary.

Goldman Raises Apple's Price Target on 3G iPhone Launch
Analysts expectations are way too shortsighted and extrapolating otherwise nonlinear trends. Why not make things simpler and look at the drivers: improving products (software + hardware) and improving markets (geography + segments). Add it up, count for the risks and then talk.

      Will Sohu Rally to $150?
SOHU is a nice investment, it has been consolidating for four years now and earnings , and the business model changed for the better. For China its still a smallcap stock in a dynamically growing market that isnt easy to penetrate for newcomers. Internal competition could be much worse.
