'Institutional Type' Stocks Will Rise and Rise Some More
Well said, "a believer". I am not smart enough to fathom what Mr. Gordon says, but surely he has given the matter much thought.

      The Truth About Bailouts
Let's wait and see what Mr. Obama has to offer Monday. I'm still hopeful despite the grandstanding of Mr. Axelrod. That performance could indicate a direction, or it could be an aberration.

Does the Auto Industry Deserve To Be Bailed Out?
Where to begin? Mr. Nirav has been defended FROM stereotyping. I feel constrained to defend him FOR stereotyping. I am aware that monkeys are held in high regard in India, and well they should be, for they ARE our cousins, as are dogs and cats et cetera. When Mr. Nirav mentioned training monkeys to work in auto plants my first impulse was to call my union committee person to protest this cruelty. But then I realized that at least one monkey had already been trained to be an essayist.
No, Mr. Nirav, please do not apologize to this old broken down retired auto worker. I would have loved to have worked with one of my cousins. We could have had such great fun using that computer controlled numerical control machining center. We would have saved GM a pile of money. I made that machine pay for itself on just one job. Just think what we could have done together. Hail to the monkeys.
And in the words of Joe Hill, "Don't mourn; organize!"

      Love y'all MONKEYS, Lou

Washington's Foot Dragging on Automaker Bailout Disappoints Markets
Is it any wonder that I do not trust the U.S government. Must I list the reasons. (rhetorical questions) A few: I watched as the US government stole the gold of US citizens. I watched as seven US presidents in a row each did something stupid with regard to Indo-China. (starting with Roosevelt) Truman STARTED the Vietnam war. He is given credit for ending the war with Japan. He did not; the Japanese did not want Russians occupying Japan, so they surrendered to the US.
What next. It looks very much like the US government is hell bent on forcing the auto makers into bankruptcy. If that happens congress will play to the grandstand and refuse to enforce the government's commitment to insure pensions. And will I just watch this time. TRY ME.

It Might Be Impossible to Stop the Decline of Housing Prices
Yep, I live in Texas where the economy is a little better, less greed, more caring than elsewhere. Lost heavily in the market especially RE. Paid cash on the barrel head for my new home. We must wait for housing to bottom before the turn around. But it won't be much if laiser-faire continues.

Demand More for Your Auto Bailout Dollar; Oil Patch Should Bounce Back Long Term
Michael, I agree this is a good time to load up on oils, but that's predicated on the assumption that autos will not go broke. Do you as a taxpayer really want to pay my pension?

      Can Gross World Product Shrink?
Wealth (product) is created by work. If the workers are not working no product. Gross product depends on how many are working. It can be argued that a few capitalists doing their thing in a mighty way are doing a great deal of work. A gold miner can produce much wealth. In the great scheme of things ordinary workers are producing the vast bulk of wealth. there is simply no other way than work.

Obama wins in a landslide. 62% of voters said the economy was their top concern, which prompts the question: Is this a victory for the left, or a vote against the Bush administration's handling of the current economic slump?
Mr. Hoffmann, Thanks so much for being factual. Very refreshing and just what we need.
