Accor, Host and Marriott: Short Interest Heats Up
As you can see from this graph of Accor's (ACRFF.PK) Market Cap out on loan (%MCOL), short interest in the U.S. hotel group has increased by nearly 100% over the past three months; from 8% in early July to 15.3% as of close of business on Monday. Host, (HST), one of the leading U.S. hotel chains, has seen a rise %MCOL of over 100% since February, when the %MCOL rose from 10% then to 24% in September, and down to 19% on Wednesday. Utilisation was at just 30.54%. There are 20.95 Days to Cover. That same day, A Keefe, Bruyette & Woods analyst downgraded Host to "Market Perform" from "Outperform."

Marriott (MAR), on the other hand, has seen few short positions being increased, with a %MCOL of 3.71%, down from 7% in late August. Utilisation is at 15.62% and there are 6.4 Days to Cover. The share price continued to fall, and on Wednesday, the company revealed a three-quarter profit drop of 28%.
