The new BlackBerry Bold may not be a revolutionary device, but its underlying platform is, says Canaccord Adams analyst Peter Misek after testing it out ahead of Thursday’s release in Canada and mid-September for the rest of North America.

“The device offers several incremental benefits that we believe will appeal to both corporate users and consumers, including vastly improved speed and web browsing; a camera phone, which should appeal to consumers; more accurate voice recognition; larger keys for easier typing; and an elegant design with smoother curves and leather backing,” he told clients.

He considers the Bold just the first of several “game-changing” devices that Research In Motion Ltd. will unveil this year. The touch-screen Thunder could make the difference, with its tactile feedback and “incredible” screen that is expected to offer Apple Inc.’s iPhone some real competition for the first time. Meanwhile, Mr. Misek said RIM’s Kickstart flip phone should appeal to younger users.

These exciting products should boost RIM’s momentum well above market expectations, the analyst said, reiterating a “buy” rating and US$225 price target on RIM shares. This represents upside of more than 70%.

Nice cheerleading but Rimm has never any officially announced the Thunder and this report is in great contrast to the other report that the Bold is no game changer. Plus where is the bold. Supposedly Rogers released it today but there is hardly any news and one story says the stores have 2 or less phones.

at $225 Rimm's market cap would be $127 billion which would be more than Hewlett Packard today or more than Disney and Dell combined. Pretty amazing market cap for a one trick pony.

action speaks louder than words. Bold is very slow compared to iPhone side by side. 127 billion is almost 2x GS market cap now.

This pump monkey has no shame. He back at it again pumping the next Rim phone when the Bold is not even out in USA. All early reports indicate this phone is a overprice Curve and no...."its not a game changer".
