WashingtonPost.com To Syndicate TechCrunch
You can't believe everything you read on TechCrunch...but would you believe it if you read the same thing in the Washington Post?
The venerable D.C. daily, which led all newspapers with six Pulitzer Prizes this year, has made a deal to syndicate content from the tech-industry news site on WashingtonPost.com, becoming the first news site to do so. Second in popularity among all blogs, according to Technorati, TechCrunch is (in)famous for usually being the first to publish the rumors floating around Silicon Valley, regardless of whether they turn out to be true. "Journalism is evolving," says founder Michael Arrington in the announcement. Hard to argue with that.
Here's the release.
Washingtonpost.com Adds TechCrunch to Technology Section
First News Site to Syndicate TechCrunch ContentWASHINGTON--May 8, 2008--Washingtonpost.com, an award-winning news and information Web site, today announces it will include coverage from TechCrunch in its technology section.
TechCrunch will provide washingtonpost.com readers concentrated and continuously updated insights into cutting-edge start-ups, products and other online ventures. This addition rounds out the Technology section, which already provides in-depth reporting on the latest news and trends affecting every aspect of the technology industry, from medical innovations to the evolutions in global media policy, personal technology to issues of security.
"washingtonpost.com's Technology section covers a wide scope of technology news with high-quality reporting, blogs and databases," said Jim Brady executive editor of washingtonpost.com. "Expanding our coverage to include specialty interests from leading technology sources, such as TechCrunch, helps make us a top destination for national technology news."
TechCrunch joins washingtonpost.com's popular blogs including Brian Krebs's Security Fix, Rob Pegoraro's Faster Forward and the latest news from Post I.T., along with Mike Musgrove's @Play column, online chats with technology experts, and vast online databases of product reviews.
"We are excited to work with washingtonpost.com and to include our content in their Technology section," said Michael Arrington, founder and co-editor of TechCrunch. "Journalism is evolving, and Washingtonpost.com is maintaining their leading position by embracing the community."
